In conjunction with the global celebration of Avon’s 20th Breast Cancer Crusade anniversary, last Sunday, Avon Malaysia proudly joins more than 58 countries in hosting it’s second Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer event with locally themed Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer held at Federal Administrative Center (Istana Kehakiman) in Presint 2 & 3, Putrajaya.

So I decided to be a Pink Bunny!
Wore bunny ears, Avon KGBC shirt with pink asymmetric skirt and blue Adidas shoes because I don’t have pink sport shoes.Very often, almost every marathon I’ve ran, there’s someone dressed up in costume and decides to complete the marathon in it. I find it rather interesting, so since I’m used to running 10KMs I decided to dress up and supporting a good cause in Pink Bunny!
Kick started with Zumba warm up, followed by official flag off by YB Senator Datuk Heng Seai Kee, Deputy Minister of Woman, Family & Community Development, accompanied by Carolyn Nur Amira Lee, Avon Malaysia Managing Director.
It was indeed an enjoyable walk as throughout the 5KM walk, there’s various pit stops where we’re entertained and cheered by eclectic mix of groups, which includes the Aswara Percussion Ensemble, a ‘Stress Free Zone’, “1 Malaysia” cheer stations, BSE (breast self examination) human statues, creative cheer stations by Avon staffs and Ukelele players. There were also superheros joining us in the walk, such as spiderman, superman, cat woman and a green fairy I’ve spotted.
It was indeed a memorable walk as we were joined by local idols and Avon ambassadors Scha Alyahya, Noor Neelofa and Soo Wincci; together with other supporting celebs, namely Linda Jasmine, Que Haidar, DJ Jeff, Leslie Chai, Alan Yun, Dato’ Fazley, Harimau Malaya striker; Safee Sali and many more.
I was one of the first 200 in completing the 5KM walk and were to join the human Pink Ribbon formation as a symbolic gesture to celebrate the upcoming Pink Ribbon October month. As a result of dressing up as pink bunny, I’ve got a bed sheet set as a gift for being the 100 best dressed.
After completed 5KM! It’s a very sunny Sunday morning!
There was also a flash mob dance organized by Avon headquarters staff and joined by participants. Check out the video on Youtube of the flash mob dancing to the beat!
Performances by The Kickers dancing to K-pop.
After the performances, Madam Siow, 41; a breast cancer survivor and mother of 3 young kids shared her experience when she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.Later joined by a group of Breast Cancer Survivors in a photo session and a mock cheque donation amounting to RM 50 000 from Avon to Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) and Pink Ribbon Wellness Foundation.
What’s inside of my goodie bag.Pink Bunny had a great walk towards a good cause of fighting against breast cancer with over 7000 people (source from The Star). Let’s continue raising awareness of Breast Cancer and encourage all your female friends, girlfriends, wife, aunties and any female colleague to do Breast Self Examine (BSE) as early detection can save lives!
