Ever since Cafe Hopping became a trend, some places got crowded especially on weekends so here are a few hidden cafes in Petaling Jaya that I personally prefer. Some are quiet on both weekdays and weekends, plus since it’s hidden you’ll get to avoid the crowd and just chill over a coffee or brunch fix.
1. Coffee Good Golly Miss Golly
A quiet hideout on both weekdays and weekends. Uses beans from Artisan and former Artisan Coffee barista-amin is currently based here. This place is like an alternative of Artisan Coffee. Currently they do not serve any food apart from cakes, but soon there will be brunch menu. Read more about Coffee Good Golly Miss Molly as reviewed by Eunice here.
G-005 Ground Floor, Millenium Square PJ, Jalan 14/1 (same building as Piccadilly) | opens daily from 10am till 8pm | Coffee Good Golly Miss Molly
2. Jam and Kaya Cafe
A lovely brunch place, the atmosphere is cozy. Try their signature pancakes ranging from savoury to sweet ones while their coffee is average I’ll recommend going for mocha with chocolates balls. Read more about Jam and Kaya Cafe here.
No 1, Lorong Sultan (located inside PJ Palms Sports Center and same row as A&W) | opens daily from 10am till 10pm | Jam & Kaya Cafe
3. Standing Theory @ SS2
A hidden cafe located in a single row of shops surrounded by houses. Great coffee and cozy place, however sometimes it does get crowded especially on weekends. A good time to visit is weekdays before 12pm or after 3pm (avoid lunch time). Go for their BBC Waffles it’s crispy waffles served with bacon and Bananas topped with Fatbaby ice cream. Coffee here is great; go for Piccolo, long black, cold brew or flat white. Read more about Standing Theory here.
26, Jalan SS2/103 (near SK Taman Sea school) | Open Tue – Sun from 11am till 11pm | Standing Theory
4. Cat in the Box @ Empire Damansara
A quiet hideout on both weekdays and weekends. Uses East Timor (Timor Leste) with tasting notes of chocolately and nutty, medium bodied. They offer light snacks such as cakes and Kee’s creampuffes. Occasionally grommet sandwiches on weekdays, food is not guarantee available so come with a full stomach. Read more about Cat in the box here.
It’s been relocated* to Empire Damansara, Lot 111 Heritage Lane, Empire Damansara, Jalan PJU 8/8, Damansara Perdana. | open daily from 11am till 10pm | Cat In The Box
5. Bofe Eatery @ SS2
Newly opened Bofe Eatery is cozy and spacious which makes it a good hideout. Go for their brunch menu and there’s set lunch menu on weekdays. Food is rather good however, coffee is average. I would opt for their fresh fruit juices such as detox and anti ageing.
16, Jalan 19/36, Section 19 (same row as Mungo Jerry BKT) | opens daily from 11am till 9pm | Bofe

Coffee places are kinda getting out of hand don’t you think? There are so many out there it’s like they are opening everywhere and anywhere possible.

Very true. Well for me, coffee quality is one of the criteria while sometimes working out of office in this case I would have different criteria for coffee places or I’ll rather call some of it cafes 😉 as cafe some offer relatively good food but their coffee may be just average.

Hi Shannon you can check out a cafe named ‘The Brew Houze’ situated in The Strand Kota Damansara. They served all day foods and quality coffee. Their foods and coffee are so good and you will not regret in everything you order on their menu.
