It was a privilege to stay in Awana Kijal on a 3 day 2 night trip together with Nuffnang group of bloggers sponsored by the Genting Group.
A short but sweet escape on an adventure into the authentic local customs. With the special hotel Kampung Tour adventure, we went on a discovery trip in Kemaman, Trengganu. Visiting it’s local attraction of the Turtle Sanctuary, night boating trip to watch Fireflies at Ibok River, experiencing batik arts & crafts as well as indulging in the local specialties of the Kijal Lemang and Keropok Lekor. We also had the opportunity to try on some seafood as well as the famous Stuffed Crabs.
After a 5 hours plus drive, we’ve finally arrived and were greeted with a friendly smile and a refreshing fruit punch in unique cello glass.
Pretty creative and cute, don’t you think?
It was a hot day and the a drink in hand to chill and cool ourselves down was great before we settled in to our rooms.
The Lobby
I’m staying with Jess, together we checked into our room.
The bathroom
We agreed the bed and extra pillows are very comfy.
Snacks were served around the evening at 5pm varies from cookies and cakes as a complimentary treat by the hotel. Coffee and tea are provided in the room.
We stayed in the Premier Sea View room. From our window, we were able to see the swimming pool, golf area and the beach.
The swimming pool. It’s a 22,000 sq foot Waterfall Pool, the biggest landscaped pool in the East Coast. The children would love the wet slide too! There’s also a hot tub where you get to soak in hot Jacuzzi located by the pool side.
On the second day, we had the opportunity for free and easy by the beach. Yeap, dark clouds were ahead of us!
But there’s one thing you got to try by the beach.
Well relaxing is a must, on the sandy beach…
It’s the coconut drink! Not bad, its quite good.
here’s also Keropok Lerok and Otak-Otak!
If your a person who enjoy watersport! Good for you, with the private beach and a list of fun wet and wild activities (link) you and your family or friends will have a fun time!
ATV rides are available too!
The being slightly less adventure me, took a long soak in my room tub and relaxed myself. While watching Charlie Angels on TV. It was bliss.
On our final day, we had the opportunity to tour around the resort. Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa
Relax in the soothing atmosphere of Awana Kijal in house 5-star Taman Sari Royal Heritage Spa. Indulge in the experience brought to you by Princess BRA Mooryati Soedibyo of the Royal Javanese Palace.

The facial room. Besides spa and massage, they offer facial too.
Room Tour And after a few keys and unlocking a few doors we find ourself in various types of rooms offered by the hotel.
As I stayed in the Premier Seaview Room where we have a view of the sea, this is the Premier Non-Seaview Room has a view overlooking greenery.
Deluxe Suite is similar to Premier Suite. The only difference is Deluxe Suite is one floor above and does not comes with a Jacuzzi. However, for big families, these two suite comes in an advantage as there is a private stair linking down to the Premier Suite. Together it can be an attached suite. Each suite is catered for two adults and two children at most.
Luxury and exclusivity, the Premier Suite comes complete with top-notch amenities and even a private Jacuzzi. The very finest our resort has to offer. At the end of our room tour, we even had the opportunity to visit the VVIP suite cater only for ministers. Located on the ground floor, similar to the Premier Suite concept however the difference is it has a much bigger sofa and a phone inside the bathroom by the toilet. Indeed, a room for a very busy man or lady.
Have some fun playing the traditional game of chongkat by the lobby. Restoran Kampong Meraga Beris
With buffet and dishes served on top of a “sampan”, this is the place for those with an appetite for exquisite local delicacies. Business Hours: 6.30am – 10.30am (Breakfast) 12.00pm – 2.30pm (Lunch) 6.30pm – 10.30pm (Dinner)
My recommendation, the breakfast buffet is good.
Lots of variety, from western to local delights. Such as Roti Canai, Noodle Soup, Pastries, buns, sausages and eggs.
Waterfall Cafe
We had a steamboat buffet on our second night at the hotel. Waterfall Cafe, with a water theme, this cafe serves local and Western favourites with a view overlooking the swimming pool. Daily live entertainment in the evenings except Thursdays. Business Hours: 7.00am – 10.30pm.
Grilled prawns with butter sauce were delicious. Very fresh and well cooked. Its a special dish prepared for us by the hotel upon a request.Recreation site in the resort…
Giant Chess
Well that’s about it. A really huge resort indeed!
Oh, and don’t forget to check out The Joke of The Day corner. It changes everyday! Located by the lobby beside the congkat.
Read more about my experience on the Kampung Tour with the local highlights and attraction, I’ll be blogging on it soon. 🙂

You just ate, stayed in your room, and took pictures of food. What a waste of a trip.
