Barracks Cafe also known as Dempsey House located in Dempsey Hill, is a great place for weekend brunch or tea time. Surrounded by lots of greens, this cafe is only less than 5 minutes away from ION Orchard. Dempsey Hill is a place surrounded with eateries, while Dempsey House is located at the end (last row of shops).
There are outdoor seats should you like to enjoy the greens while it may get a slightly hot, I picked an indoor seat facing the greens partitioned by a glass wall, it’s a table for one brunch.
Crowded on a weekend brunch, the deco in Dempsey House is interested, filled with mismatch vintage chairs and large heavy wooden table. The menu offer a selection of brunch choices and a different menu for dinner.
I had their 7-layer Pancake (SGD 19), as recommended. It’s tall and fluffy, filled with variety of nuts, raisins, dried fruits and served with maple syrup.
Complimenting the pancakes, I had the Red Latte, it was divined as this was the taste I’ve been searching for, not milky at all, just perfect to savour red espresso. By the way, this is a decaf tea.
It was rather sunny, so I didn’t managed to walk around Dempsey Hill, it’s quite a huge place, you’ll see some pretty rides too. You might like to explore other cafes in Dempsey Hill too, price range on average it’s about 30 – 50 SGD per person judging from the look of the cafe/restaurants. Nevertheless, I would say this is a weekend hangout place.
