Coco Chanel once said, a girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
I believe every girl should maintain her perfect image even while traveling aboard. In this post, I will share an Essential Travel Guide on Toiletries that every girl needs while traveling. During my traveling, I realised at times my skin became extremely dry due to weather, the atmosphere on plane and perhaps due toiletries hotels provided.
Travel light is the key however; there are certain essential items every girl cannot ignore. It may vary between each individual but the above are my essentials.
Face mist. I’m loving Caudalie Eau De Raisin grape water face mist, it’s firstly non-flammable which means I can carry it up on plane without having to check in luggage. Grape water provides moisture to my skin, maintains radiance while keeping it hydrated. It’s also a quick boost after a nap on the plane or when your bored of waiting during transit.
Face Mask. I’m currently using TT Orchid Extract Replenishing Mask, I call it the all-in-one mask as it contains Orchid extracts which hydrates skin leaving skin feeling smoother and finer on the surface with anti-ageing benefits. Of course every trip my choice of face mask changes but I will always carry along a sheet mask over a liquid or cream based as it’s less hassle and convenient.
Hand Cream. I will always have a tube of hand cream in my handbag so that makes no exception when traveling. Currently am loving Yes! Nurse hand cream, you can read my review about it here. It’s also important choose a hand cream that can effectively hydrate your hands, non-greasy and packaging size (small to medium around 30 – 70ml) that can fit well in your handbag plus lightweight.
Face Cleanser, Toner and Moisturizer. It’s important to continue using your daily skin care routine especially for those with sensitive skin; you wouldn’t want any skin reaction when traveling. For me, I’m less particular so at times I would purchase travel kit, like now am using REN travel kit or I’ll get small container to bring some amount of my usual skin care product. You should also take note that, if your traveling to a humid country or during winter times, skin care product varies and there are different brands which caters to different climate changes, so best is to read up on the weather forecast about 2 weeks to 3 days before traveling. I also bring along a face scrub/exfoliator gel with me to remove dead skin cells on alternate days.
Shower Gel and Shampoo. Some hotels provide toiletries such as bath gel, shampoo and conditioner etc. Well if you are sure your hotel will provide such toiletries then that’s fine. But for me, even though hotel provides these I will still bring along mine. The reason is some bath gel leaves your skin feeling extra dry as they mostly contains large amounts of unhealthy chemicals. I love Yves Rocher products and am using their shower gel at home so while traveling I would get the cute mini bottles (50ml) that come in attractive scent with flavours like berries, vanilla, blackcurrant, olive oil, oatmeal and more. As for shampoo, I have colour hair so I’ll refill my colour shampoo into small bottles to preserve my hair colour. Besides, some hotel shampoo leaves your hair frizzy, best to use your own. Daiso offers travel size bottles for RM 5 each pack, you can also fill in shower gel and shampoo (which is more cost effective) and liquid below 100ml can be carry up on plane with hand luggage.
Body Lotion/Butter. Just to keep my skin hydrated from head to toe, body lotion is a must, again only carry them in small bottles. I’m using Yves Rocher Berry scent lotion, it could replace a perfume with it’s fruity scent.
Hair Removal Cream. I love smooth hairless legs so I’ll carry along a Veet small size hair removal cream. Also you get to flaunt your long legs when putting on mini skirt, shorts or dress. If your only for 3 -4 days, you could have just wax or remove your hair a day prior to traveling and leave this item at home.
These are just a few essential travel guide every girl needs on toiletries. I do carry along with me an emery board to rescue chipped nails, lip balm to moisture my lips, Dettol hand sanitizer to kill germs on hands and so on.
The list may seem like a lot to carry but it’s actually not. Lastly, do get a pvc bag in suitable size to fit all your toiletries in. This is convenient when you arrive at your hotel you can carry the entire bag of toiletries into the bathroom and need not lay every single item one by one. Why I recommend pvc is because, in bathroom it’s usually wet, pvc dries quickly and you need not worry on wetting a bag/pouch.
As for cosmetics, I only carry a certain amount that is essential to me. Some of you may have more items that you need. So my essentials are BB cream with UV protection, mascara, lip tint, stained lip balm, eye shadow, eye stick, brow liner and make up remover.
A final tip, when traveling always drink lots of water. I would go to supermarkets or convenient shops nearby to hotel and get 1.5L of mineral water daily to quench and hydrate the internal body, as with sufficient water, skin would feel less dry despite the weather and it keeps you healthy with prevention from falling sick when traveling.
