What crosses your mind when “Advertising” was mentioned? In layman’s understanding, advertising is a tool to help brand market a product, correct? Well, partly yes, advertising has been part of our daily life; we see it every minute and everywhere. In other words, our conscious and subconscious mind is so used to advertisement that we filtered ads unknowingly.
Are you curious how advertisements actually work? By incorporating creativity and design how an ad would appeal to a group of people. Through creating Awareness that leads to Interest and Desire where people takes Action to acquire a product being advertised – this is the AIDA model. There are more to advertising and various models being used to explain how advertising actually works.
To learn more about design and advertising, IACT College has introduced a new 3+0 degree – Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Advertising and Design partnered with University of Sunderland, UK.
During the IACT College open day in conjunction with the new program offered, I was invited to participate in the Creative Advertising Workshop by Alicia Benoy, Advertising Degree Programme Leader. The 1.5 hours, provided interactive hands on session for high school graduates to create their personalized nametag by using Adobe Illustrator with a template given. It’s a simple and fun workshop learning some basic AI functions. Upon completion, the personalized nametags were printed in a sticker as a memento.
After lunch, we were given a campus tour around IACT College, they are certainly the creative communications specialist. We were impressed with the 21st century learning facilities namely; Studio of Expressions, Recording Studio, Classic Urban Library, Cyber Research Stations, Sound Engineering Room, PBL Brainstorm Rooms and many more.
A few of us bloggers got excited where we had a “blogger group photo” taken with Samantha, Fish, Joel and Simon while experimenting with lights & cameras.
