Fine Dinning @ Truffles, Taylor’s University

Shannon Chow · August 6, 2012 · Leave a Comment

I believe, Taylor’s University Lakeside campus needs no introduction. If you’ve missed out the Open Day, check out a preview of the campus. 😉
When I was in the Student Council, we used to bring our guest especially VIPs from MQA, Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and other guest to our Taylor’s in-house fine dining restaurants after meetings or audits for lunch and to showcase our Taylor’s Hospitality students in action. Now, i’m writing a review to share more about the 3 fine dining restaurants serving French cuisine; namely Truffles, Tarragon and Thyme Restaurant.

It’s been a couple of months I’ve not dine in Truffles Restaurant and since Tasha was having her practical class, she’ve invited myself with my boyfriend and James to join in for dinner and to be served by her at our table.

The Menu of the day.
James looking at the buns, he loves it. The bun is surprisingly good and it’s in-house produced by Taylor’s kitchen!
Tasha, never fails to entertain us always, although she did made some mistakes and was nervous at time we as her friends find it entertaining and we’ll giggle at her. I guess she enjoyed serving us as this was the second or third time she’ve asked us to come by for dinner (bill is on ourselves of course).

Mocktail of the day.
Quiche Florentine. Spinach pie topped with cheese.Slightly too salty plus this appetizer is not favourable to the guys. Perhaps they dislike greens.

Tasha preparing our Roasted Lamb Racks with on the spot presentation.
Roasted Lamb Rack, glazed vegetables and mashed potatoes served with black pepper sauce.
Delicious.
Dessert of the day is Tiramisu without any alcohol. The cream is not bad at all while it’s served without any alcohol this dish is well prepared.

Interested to dine in Truffles Restaurant? well there are certain rules youare required to abide when dining. Youare required to wear smart casual and looks presentable. Best if you opt to wear formal attire.Per person for Taylorians (with valid Taylor’s University student ID card) entitles you to enjoy 3 course fine dining meal for only RM 10 where as for outsiders it’s RM 15 per pax. Drinks such as fruit juice, mocktails, coffee or tea are chargeable of RM 4 per glass/cup.

It’s very affordable, considering this is a fine dining style and you do get reasonably good food. Every session of class is conducted by the students with lecturer and their chef overlooking the overall progress as each student will be assigned to groups and have different roles and task to perform so they can experience how a restaurant operates.
Youare required to do a booking, reserve a table withnumber of pax at the Division of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Artsprior at least 1 or 2 days before the date you wish to dine in.
