It’s been a very busy week for me as assignment deadlines approaches and final exam next month. So I’m gonna share with you how I learnt to swim the smart way with Swimin12. About 2 months ago, Christopher Tock aka Spinzer had a 1KM swimming with bloggers challenge where he gather 12 bloggers to learn the basic proper swimming technique with SwimIn12.com.

I’ve always wanted to learn swimming, although I am not afraid of the water, trying to balance myself to swim from one end to another end in a pool is just quite impossible. As I recently got my PADI open water diving license, learning how to swim is quite important as who knows if anything happens I am require to swim back to the boat or for survival. So when Chris was looking for bloggers to take part in the swimming lesson conducted by SwimIn12.com I got excited and signed up for it. Later on I was notified via email I was selected and our class would start in September.

Together with Veronica and Sarah Low we were so excited to begin our first swimming lesson. We are going to learn how to swim in just 3 classes which is a duration of 1 hour of each class, that’s a total of 3 hours of swimming lessons. At first we were thinking, are you sure we will be able to swim in just 3 hours? well, this is the smart way of swimming so classes were conducted efficiently too!

Before each swimming lesson, after warming up Eu Juan our coach will explain some of the basic things on what we will learn.Did You Know?

  • You can open your mouth, laugh underwater and even sneeze, talk, shout underwater?
  • To sink or sit at the bottom of the pool, one needs to exhale out all as much air from the lungs possible until you feel like sinking a normal person is able to stay in the water for 30-45 seconds or longer depending on how calm you are.
  • To prevent water from entering to your nose, you need to blow thru your nose non-stop!.
  • Swimming may not need to be about strength! One can swim efficiently by feeling & controlling the invisible force in the water to use less strength but produce the same energy to swim longer distance.
