Manmaru Homemade Udon is a home-grown Malaysian brand of self-service concept restaurant in Mid Valley. They serve 100% freshly made wheat flour udon with the finest variety of broths. Manmaru means “circular” in the Japanese language. Their open kitchen and self-service concept allows you to move freely and easily when selecting your udon, broth and ingredients.
Udon price ranges from RM 8.90 to RM 15.90 with side orders and tempura items ranging from RM 1.50 to RM 5.00.
As introduced by ah Bok, Manmaru Homemade Udon is another place to get my udon cravings fix. There are a few udon where I particular like, such as the their signature Kamaage Udon, Niku Udon and Zaru Udon. Plus there are a variety of side dishes and tempura items to pair with your udon too.
Kamaage Udon, RM12.90
An “Al-dente” style udon with warm kamaage sauce. This was something new to me, even though I’m a huge Udon fan. I’ve seen many eating this the wrong way, do not pour the sauce into the bowl of hot water. It should be consumed with the same dining technique of Zaru Soba.
Holding the kamaage sauce cup in your left hand and dip udon into the sauce, then eat it and repeat process. Kamaage sauce is very aromatic, which consist of dashi, soy sauce and roasted sesame seed. A must try when you are at Manmaru Homemade Udon.
Niku Udon, RM12.90 (S) / RM14.90 (L)
Hot udon soup with thin sliced beef and spinach. This is one of my favourite and it was really good, especially it’s soup.
Zaru Udon, RM8.90 (S) / RM10.90 (L)
Similar to Zaru Soba, this cold dish is another all time favourite. However, I do understand not many people enjoy their noodle served cold.
Curry Udon, RM10.90 (S) / RM12.90 (L)
Udon with traditional Japanese curry. It’s mild spicy with creamy texture.
Kake Udon, RM8.90 (S) / RM10.90 (L)
Classic soy udon.
Bukake Udon, RM9.90 (S) / RM11.90 (L)
Cold udon dash with thick fish broth.
Kimchi Udon, RM11.90 (S) / RM13.90 (L)
Korean style spicy noodle soup.
Cream Corn Udon, RM12.90 (S) / RM14.90 (L)
Light & creamy sweet corn udon soup. It’s very similar to carbonara pasta.
Ume Udon, RM10.90 (S) / RM12.90 (L)
Refreshing udon served with pickled plum.
Kamo Seiro Udon, RM13.90 (S) / RM15.90 (L)
Udon served in hot water with heavenly taste of duck gravy.
Self-service counters. Pick up your noodle and pay at the counter. Get your cutleries. Then proceed on to get your tempura sauce with white radish or add on tempura flakes (free flow).
I enjoy having the Aloe King (Original) drink. Add on tempura items and Tori Karaage (Chicken). Their Hanjuku Tamago (Soft boiled egg marinated with soya sauce) is a great side-order option.
After their official launch, 3 weeks later, I went for a 2nd. Their food is still as good as our food review session and I enjoy Niku Udon with fresh tempura prawns. I will certainly return for more udon.
The atmosphere during dinner time.
