Well, I don’t normally review hotels in KL, unless I’m on a city getaway where I would book a hotel room and just spend my weekend there to unwind and relax without the hassle of traveling to other towns in Malaysia. This usually happens when I feel stressed out and needed a short break.
However, since my best friend Nicholas is in town and staying in his usual favourite hotel, I decided to do a review on it since I’ve been here a couple of times too. And I do adore PARKROYAL KL, it’s located in one of the most convenient location – surrounded by many eateries and shopping centers (Lot 10, Sungai Wang, LowYat IT mall, Times Square, Starhill Shopping Centre and Pavilion Shopping Mall, if you opt to take a skybridge from Pavilion to Suria KLCC Twin Towers in a 15 minutes walk).
Orchid Club Deluxe – King Bed
Nicholas is an Orchid Club member there’s some benefits to it like any other hotel club membership.
There are 78 Orchid Club rooms and suites which includes; spacious work desk with ergonomic executive chair, 32-inch Sony LCD TV with DVD, light switchboards with focused reading light beside bed and bathroom with separate bathtub and shower area.
The Orchid Deluxe room features an open concept bathroom, where you could enjoy a hot bubble bath while watching a movie. According to Nicholas, the bed is comfy, a plus point for hotel as that is one of the things I consider when booking a room – people’s comment about comfort level of the bed and bathroom.
One of the benefits an Orchid Club member enjoys is a personalized check-in and check-out at the Orchid Club Lounge. There’s breakfast served as well as mid-day snacks, fresh fruits, juices, coffee and tea. Read more about the Orchid Club benefits here.
The room is rather spacious and have a city view facing Time Square – during rush hour, you’ll get to see bumper-to-bumper traffic in KL. 🙂
We chilled awhile at Klix Lounge having beers and tibits before dinner as the restaurant was full so we had to wait awhile for our table. I would recommend you book a table if you plan to dine in as I’m surprised on a weekday it was full.
To beat the traffic in KL, we decided to take our dinner in Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant located at the lower ground floor of PARKROYAL Hotel, serving authentic Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine. After 20minutes, they had prepared a table for us and it was indeed quite full and I took this picture after food.
No doubt as Nicholas recommended, the food was good. We ordered their famous “pat bo cha” aka 8 treasured tea (hope I got the name right in english) and other dishes which was recommended by the captain. The noodles are good as well as the spicy si chuan chicken and delicious smoked duck slices wrap in steam buns with special sauce. Unfortunately, as it’s a weekday, they didn’t have the popular Perking duck dish.
Overall, it was a satisfying dinner with Nic as a good company. According to the captain of the restaurant, the tea demonstration is only available on weekends. You can try your luck and do share pictures with me! 🙂
Well here’s Me and Nicholas. We usually meet up whenever time allows us as I certainly treasured this friendship which begun during our college days few years back in Taylor’s Subang SS15, I used to call him “Dirty Old China Man” if you still remember my old blogposts, I still call him that till now.
Drinks after food at Klix Lounge, the barista is really friendly and made me a customize drink – Mint Chocolate. Yes it tasted like sweet chocolate melting in your tongue and it’s a ladies drink. If you would like to try I’m sure you can show this blogpost upon ordering from the barista.
After my first glass of cocktail, the barista wanted to experiment another new drink and made me a Mango orange cocktail. I don’t quite know what else is in it, it’s another ladies drink and this one is not too sweet.
I had enjoyed myself at PARKROYAL KL, thanks to Nicholas being the guide. 🙂
