Awhile ago, I received an invitation in my mailbox about the AirAsia Blogger’s Community (AABC) party, how could anyone miss out on a party at The AirAsia Academy? I was thrilled and couldn’t wait. Filled with excitement, I found out a few of my other blogger friends were invited too!
This blogpost, I’m gonna spill all the fun we had and a tour around AirAsia Academy for you.
Arrived at the party, the setup was as though we’re at a boarding gate, upon entering there was a red carpet, with a wallpaper of the interior of a plane. I was greeted by friendly AirAsia staff and after registration I was given a “boarding ticket” to access the party. To my surprise, I got to meet Miao aka Akiraceo all the way from Kuching! Henry Lee aka clevermunkey and Joel Wong was there too!
A photo of myself and my outfit of the day, ready to party and up for wholesome fun!
Here’s the Lobby, filled with bean bags, pool table, TV and some table and chairs. Before the party begins, as I arrived just on time, I got to mingle around and catch up with other bloggers. AirAsia flew in bloggers from within Malaysia, namely Penang, Kuching and Sabah bloggers as well as Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia and Thai bloggers! It was a get together with ASEAN bloggers.
Bump into Jason aka walauwei. Used to meet him through lots of events, but since recently I’m less active in attending events, it’s a pleasure catching up with him.
Group photo! We bloggers do what’s best, camwhoring!
As the party started, we were briefed that it will be an exciting day at AirAsia Academy for a “treasure hunt” session! Of course, we bloggers went screaming on top of our lungs. Each of us were assigned upon registration to a particular group, I was with the White team and an AA staff was our group leader. Our mission is to complete all stations task (Siem Reap, Bali, Chiang Mai, Clark and Yangon) to get a stamp on our group passport, while on the look out for a bonus, the AA banners!
We went for the first station – sign language for on ground crew to maneuver a plane to stop and park. We had a demo by the crew and then it’s up to us to guide our “human plane” to move left, right and ensuring it stop followed by parking the plane. All these, by various hand signals. It’s indeed a very important role for the crew, especially at night when pilots landed the plane, the crew will need to guide the pilot!
Next station, we had the privilege to enter one of the Stimulator of boeing A320. Excited and filled with energy, we cramp together into the stimulator and took turn to be pilots!
Our pilot lecturer, gave the opportunity for ladies to take off the plane. I was on the pilot seat with all these confusing controls, I managed to master how to take off in just a few minutes with the pilot explaining some of the key controls to use and soon we’re up in the skies.
Being Malaysians, while driving we’re on the phone and sometimes taking photos of accidents or worst camwhoring. I’m thankful, we had auto-pilot in the stimulator as we took off, myself and Missyblurkit took or phones and started taking pictures of the runway while one hand on the jaw stick. Dangerous, I believe you wouldn’t want to be on the plane I fly.
That same attitude didn’t change as the guys took over the pilot and co-pilot seat. Here’s joel with his new job “at-the-seat” photo.
On the following station we did a riddle of Q&A as well as a puzzle to complete a 3D shape AirAsia plane.
On our last station, we’re gonna be air stewardess and stewards! We were introduced to the Special Team, whereby, on normal days you won’t meet them. They are fun, loud, full of energy and crazy! They made you laugh so hard, you’ll get stomach ache and tears rolling down your cheeks.
The special team, is a special unit set up for special occasions – such as Marriage proposals, birthday parties or a surprise you wish to throw for that someone special up in the skies (you can drop an email to AirAsia to inquire further). They performed or rather demonstrated, the in flight safety demo while dancing to Gentlemen song by PSY!
Our task, is to be as good as them. It seems easy, how air stewardess demo it. But when I got my hands on the belt while shaking and dancing, it took me some time to unbuckle. Then finding my way around the life jacket, with the string and whistle. Phew~ it was fun and we had a messy demo but the Special Team got to laugh out loud at us.
Followed up by Evacuation Announcement, we are to find a way to create as little tension and stress as possible. So the alert was actually rather calm and then again I felt it was so epic. Everyone was running and laughing out the plane. As a bonus stamp, Joel did a hula-hoop dance to score an extra stamp while entertaining the Special team!

To pamper us after all the fun and adventure, it’s makan time for an early dinner. These cute delicious looking AirAsia Blogger’s Community were dedicated to all of us.
Each of us, got a goodie bag containing AirAsia travel essentials! Blanket and pillow, an portable fan, life jacket, notebook and AirAsia Red foldable backpack! Plus, everyone get’s to walk away with a brand new PEARL MINI phone, courtesy of NINETOLOGY. Just WhAO!
The best part of the day, I get to fly to Taipei, Taiwan on AirAsia X! Remember earlier one of the task is to collect the AirAsia banners? I was the 2nd person who collected it, when I saw that AABC logo on the railing by the stairs, I rushed towards it and grab it. Apparently, each banner are of different colours are of different prizes. Other prizes includes TuneHotels vouchers, Tune Talk, Jersey and AirAsia flight tickets.
It was indeed a fun time, I was especially glad to meet a few new bloggers around the ASEAN region all thanks to AirAsia for organizing such a cool party!
