Do Something Good Launch at Bangsar Village II

Shannon Chow · June 16, 2012 · Leave a Comment

Do Something Good was launched in Bangsar Village II few days ago. Do Something Good – Bringing Sexy back to Volunteerism. It started from identifying one of the primary problems faced by the community service sector in Malaysia which is the lack of information and accessibility for the local community towards volunteering opportunities.
Deputy Minister of Higher Education Yang Berhormat Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah.

Therefore, with the platform of Do Something Good, individuals to begin joining causes and start to volunteer as well as social organizations such as NGOs or Non Profit Organizations groups can effectively recruit and manage volunteers.

Do Something Good was born as they wanted to provide a solution to people or organization who wish to help others and make an impact including broadening of opportunities to volunteer.
Officiating the kick-off of Do Something Good, Deputy Minister of Higher Education Yang Berhormat Dato’ Saifuddin Abdullah. He was accompanied by notable NGOs such as National Cancer Society Malaysia, Yayasan Salam, Yayasan Chow Kit and House of Matahari as well as ‘Celebrity for Cause’ Ambassadors – Daphne Iking, Azlan Iskandar, Ben Ibrahim and Amber Chia.
So go and do something good today! Anything, the little things do counts, go out smile at someone, even little things like offering a seat in the train or bus to an old lady to recycling the A4 paper to reuse on the back. Simple act counts.

Such as what Kal Joffres, Tademic Director shares, “We want volunteering to become a lifestyle. In order for that to happen, it needs to be extremely easy for people to find volunteering opportunities. If you can pull out your phone and easily find three restaurants to eat at this weekend, why can’t you do the same for volunteering? ‘Do Something Good’ helps people easily find volunteering activities in their neighbourhood and find out who’s participating them in a way that wasn’t possible before. At the same time, we make it simple for organisations to organise their own volunteering opportunities and publish them.”

I’ve signed up as a volunteer, what are you waiting for? 😉
