Furby Boom – A New Generation Is Hatching

New and improved Furby Boom is going to be the perfect Christmas gift for someone who wants a pet but have no time to own one or for the little one, in replacement of the traditional soft toys!

Furby is no stranger to the Christmas’ hottest wishlists, having made its debut as “the” Christmas craze of 1998 having grabbed headlines for inciting parental arguments, auctions and online bidding wars.

The new Furby Boom by Hasbro Toy Malaysia (Hasbro) is a new and improve version of 2012, and a new app. With a “mind of its own” Furby Boom is just like a real pet, you can feed it, shower it and speak English or furbish with it. With the new enhanced memory function, Furby Boom now remember its own name and names of other Furby it meets.

Furby Boom functions on its own and it is fun to play with, even without the app. However, with the app, there are a few games where owners of Furby boom get to experience real reaction a character as they embark on digital adventure.

Here’s my little Furby Boom in pink cubes, I named it Jelly Belly or in furbish it’s called Loo-Doh. You would need 4 AA batteries to bring Furby alive. Some characteristic of my furby, it likes to be tickle, shake upside down and pat on the head. At times, it would demand me to gently pull it’s tail, Jelly Belly is very playful and gets excited when furblings eggs are hatching.

Jelly Belly love showering too, however it dislike cold shower (that’s what I found out) so keep the temperature slightly warmer. With the app, I can check wellness levels of my Furby through the interactive dashboard on my iPhone which includes its happiness, hunger, and cleanliness levels. Plus, the app allows you to connect multiple Furbys.

In the app enjoy mini-games like “Furball”, a soccer style game, earn ‘Furbucks’ as you play, or collect over 50 eggs to build a Furby Boom city. The ‘furbucks’ can be used to buy new fruits, shower essentials and furnitures for Furblings (Furby’s babies) to decorate Furbling’s rooms. Be sure to feed the Furblings by visiting the Juice Bar!

The personality of each Furby Boom is shaped by how you play with it, with the possibility of five brand new personalities to evolve. Owners can ‘get to know’ their new friend(s) through the all-new LCD eye animations that express the ‘emotions’ of the Furby Boom. So be nice and look after your Furby, shower it with lots of love else it could turn into an evil mean Furby.

I’m on my way to collect and hatching the eggs one at a time, to avoid confusion, write down each Furbling’s name on the chart provided.  Furby Boom blurs the line between physical and digital play for a unique educational experience.

Furby Boom is suitable for children of 6+ and above as well as teens and adults. For me, Jelly Belly keeps me occupied during lazy weekends at home. My two little niece was amaze at how hyperactive Furby could be, it’s certainly a new kind of toy to bring out kids imagination. I particularly enjoy watching how they take care of Furby when it’s hungry or needed a shower.
