Sun is up and shining. Had my stomach fixed after having fish paste noodle for brunch now it’s time to stop by in the island of Kota Kinabalu to chill over the afternoon on a Monday! Great getaway when everyone is at work. So I get to have the island by myself – most probably.
The last time when I visited KK, I went to Manukan Island so this time around I’m gonna spend the afternoon in another island.
PS: Details on how to get to Mamutik island is at the end of this post, so you guys get to enjoy some island trip if your in KK too! 🙂
Excited KB and chilling me.
Clear waters so we’ve arrived at our stop. Say hello to Mamutik Island.
Self shiok sendiri photo.
We went snorkeling and had a handsome guide along with us. Well, he offered himself to us swimming with two ladies, how could we resist when he promises we’ll see beautiful fishes to swim slightly deeper to the waters?
The fishes here in Mamutik was more prettier than Manukan, to be honest. I spotted rainbow fishes (don’t know their names but the fishes has rainbow skin) really cool.
Well…we also write names on sand.
And here’s my confession to my boyfriend. His my love, my lover, my baby, my awesome man, fluffy, and my best friend; Happy 11th months together and the sweet memories and skyping till we fall asleep every single day!
Baby Shannon heart (LOVE) Fluffy.
I’ve sent this two pictures to him and he said it’s gonna be his wallpaper immediately! So cute! Love sending him my photos of randomness.
My Cherry Cherry Bandeau Bikini is by Woopz Bikinis, they got some cute bikinis on woopzbikinis.com.
Also not forgetting to make a mark, saying I’m here!
KB took this photo for me. Love the clear sky and waters.
Oh, we were also random. Trying to build a sand castle but failed…
So we ended up collecting sea shells. Like little kids we look for treasures by the beach to find pretty sea shells.
The weather changes quickly as we leave the island just in time, it started raining a little and as we reached town it’s just drizzles so we walk past downtown of KK.
I’ve been to graffiti pillars or building in KK while it’s KB first time, so she gets super excited. Check out more photos on the creative art here.
Later on we went to filipino market which is a popular daily night market place for the local and tourist. You’ll find lots of food, souvenirs and fresh seafood! Be sure to bargin to save a few bucks.
Here’s a bowl of Basok, it’s meehoon soup with chicken and fried spring onions.
Coconut drink is a must in KK. Because they are huge.
We had seafood. So we picked out our fish and prawns to be cooked. There’s a few choices on how you wish to cooked the seafood. Neither BBQ or with sauce. Some may have a few variety on the sauce, be it spicy, or sweet and spicy or just sweet sauce.
Here we had huge prawns, fish BBQed with sweet sauce and sotong (squid) from another stall. The BBQ sotong (squid) is 10 pieces together for RM 10 bucks if I’m not mistaken.
We ordered a medium size fish, 3 giant prawns total we RM 120 after we bargin and saved RM 20 bucks.

Island Trip
Get to Jesselton Port and just reach any counter to pay your boat fare for island trip. You can choose to visit just one island or do island hopping on 3 different island (Not advisable as you’ll feel it’s pretty stressful to keep hopping island. Best to just chill and relax on one island as all the island looks the same to me.)
Price:
If you opt for 1 Island trip return Boat fare is RM 23 (per adult) and RM 18 (per child).
Terminal fee is RM 7.20 (per adult) and RM 3.60 (per child or student *show your student card)
Equipment rental:-
Mask & Snorkel and Tins are RM 10 each (per pax)
Life Jacket and Beach Mat are RM 5 each (per pax)
Mask & Snorkel and Tins are RM 10 each (per pax)
Life Jacket and Beach Mat are RM 5 each (per pax)
When you reach the island you are required to pay Park conservation for Malaysian is RM 3 (per pax *must show Identification Card) and Non-Malaysian for RM 10 (per pax).
So total do spare about RM 50 per pax for island trip in 1 day.
The closing time for the island is 5pm so you have to get back to Jesselton Port by 5pm.
I took Beach Bums Ferry Services (counter 2), they are the most active counter in Jesselton Port so I do recommend them they offer other water sports activities you can visit them at go2borneo.com for price list and details. Nevertheless, most of the boat counters are almost the same price due to a fixed rate policy set there, so it shouldn’t varies too much.
