Majlis Perundingan Pelajar Kebangsaan

Along with other Student Council members, we were sent by Taylor’s to represent in this year’s National Student Council Meeting in Putrajaya. We had totally no idea what it was, but we did our preparations. Thank goodness, on the first day of the three days event, we were briefed and apparently, we have to go through a few rounds of pra-mesyurat (pre-meetings) before the actual meeting with MoHe regarding on the students issues as well as concerns (should we have any) to bring up during the meeting with representative from the Ministry of Higher Education.

Myself, Sim and Faris.

Presenting our thoughts in BM, I couldn’t imagine a National Student Council meeting would be conducted in BM, apparently my BM is abit rusty, so I had to catch up and needless to say, due to majority of IPTA from public university, event are conducted in BM mainly. We would certainly advise our juniors for next year Student Council, should they take over our office in duty, to be fluent in BM, that would be one of the criteria as to represent Taylor’s in attending official functions like these truly eye opening.

Later on at night, during free and easy, we took the opportunity to visit UKM campus. We took the campus bus and Eu Jean gave us a tour. Glad to meet her, she’s one active youth too!

Group photo at UKM lecture theater. We’re such hyperactive that night! The difference between a public uni and private is a huge difference. A campus life compared to just going for university during the day time – I’m glad to see that curriculum activities meetings last up till 10pm at night over here at UKM, where as in our campus, youths these days don’t even stay back for club & society meetings. But in public uni, to get into the hostel, they got to be involve in activities. Guess that’s our difference between students who earn their education as compared to the ones who’s education was paid by parents. Nevertheless, some of these youths have the passion and this is certainly a good night trip to UKM.

It’s finally the day. Official meeting at Putrajaya, Putrajaya International Convention Center (PICC)!

They insisted we took a picture. My partner, Sim, Student Council President of Taylor’s University College while me as his assistant, as Vice President. He is such a great leader where I’ve learnt some leadership roles from him apart from being perfectionist!

This place PICC gives me a feeling like in parliament.

Mixed feelings, this is my first time seated in official meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and his officials.

Some of the things we discussed for the past two days, are presented and discussed here.

Happy faces, one official function is over!

Later at night, we had dinner.

The event ended with a simple dinner attended by most of us from student council of IPTA (public uni) and a few IPTS (private uni). A few Q&A and YAB Tan Sri Dato Muhyiddin gave his speech and the report of what was discussed in the earlier morning from MPPK meeting were presented to Tan Sri Dato Muhyiddin.

Indeed this was a great exposure for me, it is also our very first year in Student Council in Taylor’s University College. Great experience. Tiring too. Good night.
