Being in a Cultural Village besides the authentic Sarawak Longhouses of different tribes one must head to the Theater at Sarawak Cultural Village to witness the traditional dances and music of the locals. Thanks to Firefly and Sarawak Clutural Village for hosting us.
The Theater is air conditioned you won’t even feel like your in a Village. They showcase multi-cultural performances by different tribes and ethnic groups.
From the Orang Ulu to Iban Warrior and to the Melayu traditional dance in a 45 minute performances.
Iban Warrior
this is called Ngajat Lesong it is performed by an Iban warrior demonstrating it’s extraordinary strength of his teeth yeah I do mean Teeth! Lifting up a mortar that weigh around 20 kg!
the Stare… am looking at you!!
He moves with attitude I would say.
now as he lift up the Mortar as you can see he only holds it by his Teeth and not hands or anything else!
Orang Ulu performance of Blowpipe, his aiming at the Balloons.
Serious in his aim yet his funny actually as most visitors stare at him wondering if his wearing any pants!
and so there’s a Blowpipe demo choose by him from the audience. She’s tall very tall even without the heels which he asked her to take off the heels! *super hilarious, we were laughing our lungs out!*
Bidayuh dance known as the Rajang Be’uh a very lively dance
at the back is the live music playing
Melanau Traditional dance with bamboo sticks
bamboo dance
remember some of us witness how others play by tapping their feet into the holes before quickly remove your leg? They are doing that here at a very fast speed along with the music!
and what more to do with a bamboo than to pole dance expect this time it’s a guy and it goes all the way up. Exciting as the crowds cheer!
the Traditional Malay dance, Joget
ber-Joget, something like salsa just that this is the Malay version. It’s a dance between a guy and a girl and can swap partners along the dance
Including the audience everyone had fun ber-Joget!
Besides the Theater in Sarawak Cultural Village in every Traditional Longhouse you visit there will be different ethnic group traditional dance performing to welcome you into the house, so sit back relax and enjoy the show!
The Cultural Show performance at Theater starts from 11.30am till 12.15pm and 4.00pm till 4.45pm only two shows per day. You need to first enter Sarawak Cultural Village with an entrance fee then you can enter the Theater to enjoy the performances, my suggestion is to get there early walk around to the different long house and then enjoy the theater show and if your not finished with the tour around Sarawak Cultural Village you can continue after the Theater performance.
