The moment we’ve been awaiting for, to meet Orang Utan, finally. We’re overly excited! I’ve never imagine I’ll actually be able to meet an Orang Utan personally, we’ve studied and learnt alittle about them in school but getting so up close and standing right beside one is just…a once in a life time experience! Well they are quite harmless but of course don’t try and make fun of them else…be responsible for your own action!
If your here, don’t forget to head to the video room to learn more about the Orang Utan for a short video presentation before you head to purchase your tickets at the counter!
Besides entrance fee of RM 5 to visit the Orang Utan you’ll have to pay for any camera devices for RM 10 however, I’ll recommend you to get a DSLR with zoom lens as it’s pretty hard to capture the orang utan during their feeding time.
here’s the place where Orang Utan were feeding. Besides Orang Utan there’s also lots of red buttocks monkeys trying to take the food from the care taker. Now, these Orang Utan are the more grown up and are just released from the center to survive on their own, some still comes back to the station provided by the center for food while others who are slightly independent they never return as they are able to survive on their own in the jungle.
here’s an Orang Utan carrying it’s child to the feeding area to feed it’s child.
Well we’re pretty disappointed as we couldn’t get up close to the orang utan most of them after they had their meals they went back into the jungle…until one spotted…came down while we got pretty close to it.
we’re super excited. Owh, by the way. This is how it looks like filled with visitors and camera snapping away. I think the Orang Utan must felt funny to why are these people holding a weird black box and keep clicking it while facing me. Luckily this orang utan is not camera shy, we managed to get tons of pictures of it.
well actually his looking for food to eat. Picking some leaves. I said HE is because…look at his BALLS! Don’t mean to snap them but he keeps turn his back to us and showing his butt!
Managed to capture a short video! His eating! super cute, but his not a very handsome orang utan as mentioned to me by the photographer uncle as he had seen a more macho looking orang utan!
Time for lunch, he says as he chew on the leaves.
Looking innocent.
while we’re walking side by side with him! The staff at the center was monitoring the entire situation as we’re not suppose to get to close to them. Just some safety precaution. By the way no flash are allow too!
We’re a fortunate bunch as this particular orang utan was released just for us to snap some pictures (I presume) as it slowly walk back to the gate!
At last, after the adventure we took a group photo with the gang consits of medias, photographers and editors.
Special thanks to Firefly Airlines for flying us to Sandakan and Sabah Tourism Board for hosting us on this FAM Trip!
Next stop, we had a tour and lunch at Sepilok Nature Resort which was located a few minutes walk away.
