Sloggi Love World 2011

Shannon Chow · May 10, 2011 · 3 Comments

Recently Sloggi launched its new collection of Love World 2011 collection held in Sungai Tekala Recreation Forest, Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor. On my arm is a statement shopping bag “I’m an ECO-shopper”! Bring your shopping bags along when you shop!

launching the new collection of Sloggi Love World.

the new Sloggi Love World collection
Sloggi and the SensitivEcoSystem® Project (by the Italian manufacturer of Sensitive® Fabric used in Sloggi’s Love World collection) have partnered with the World Land Trust™ – a non-profit organization that protects remote regions between Brazil, Paraguay and North East Argentina – to save the threatened rainforest in the Yaboti Biosphere, at risk of extinction. The best part is with every one meter of Sensitive® Fabric (manufactured using eco-friendly processes) used in the Sloggi Love World collection, one square meter of the rainforest in the Yaboti Biospehere will be saved.

Lead by Example! Sloggi is partnering with Treat Every Environment Special (TrEES) – to help conserve and protect Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor including the forest park’s habitats, wildlife and eco-systems within.
Donating RM25,000 To Local Environmental NGO Partner, TrEES, To Increase Rainforest Conservation Awareness Efforts!

After the press launch, we also went on a trail walk into the jungle to experience the beauty of the nature around us.
and as am wearing sandals… I can feel the nature with my toes. It’s a trail which is fine with sandals *phew* not much climbing compare to my usual hiking in the jungle.
our guide! very informative and helpful. Did you know that the rainforest provides us Water? Yes they do! Strange I thought so too I knew they kept water but didn’t knew they produce or well please enlighten me on the more scientific detail. Maybe most of you know it but for me it’s kind of a new information!
media personals and Bloggers listening to our guide explaining
spotted Spider Web!
and we also learnt that Trees are counted by how wide their trunk is by measuring we can know how many years old a tree is!
this one is about to die. And when trees die they fall. Just like humans, they will just fall so lets hope no one passes by when it falls. Trees can live up till a maximum of 100 years old plus.
PETAI tree! yeeee….. but it doesn’t smell.
After all the exploring in the jungle trail walk we are not getting our hands dirty to Plant Trees!

on the left Tziaaa and on the right myself we’re getting ready to plant our tree!
we were in a team of 3 so I teamed up with Tziaaa and Daphne
the tree looks small but it’s quite heavy and on a count of 1,2,3 we lifted it together
look at our happy faces! Planted our tree. Well this is my first tree planting after such a long time. I planted since in primary school but thats ages ago.
now watering the Tree, while the supervisor came to see if we did a good job =)

ta-da! Our tree! So fragile rite? It’s gonna grow to be strong one day!
after all the hardwork it’s Lunch time and check out these cute cupcakes! nom nom…
After half a day of a different encounter with the rainforest well, besides going usual hiking and trail walk in jungle with friends, I now felt a greater sense to save our rainforest.
I shall Pledge by promising to recycle all my draft papers! I know I always recycle my Lecture Notes after each semester (All of you should do that) but for my usual project draft paper I tend to just throw them to the rubbish bin just like that though I re-use it by writing to-dos behind old lecture notes…So from Now on I’m gonna recycle that by gathering all together in a box and recycle! Not only papers, but plastic such as shampoo bottles, mineral bottles, etc and gather to recycle them! In the city we tend to be lazy *hands up! Am one of it. Unless I see a Recycle bin or else I don’t really practice to recycle my rubbish* So lets do it now! Be it with or without recycle bins we’re gonna create our own recycle bins!

Get a Paper Bag, that can fit the size for A4 papers and place it beside your bin, then when ever you wanna throw off notes all you need to do is put it into the paper bag and accumulate then recycle together with newspapers =) simple rite? Lets start this habit of recycling now.

Starting from this I’ve challenged myself with Sloggi I Love World to do some changes in my daily routines to contribute little by little to the World! If you follow my tweets, you’ve realized I’ve done some small bite day by day for the past 7 days to contribute to society!

***
Here are some things I’ve done that you might wanna try and practice in your daily life

Monday: I turned off the aircond in the morning after I woke up instead of letting it run, and opened up the windows for some fresh air fill the room. A very refreshing start of the day.

Tuesday: I have a lot of draft papers from past project which are no longer in use, I recycle it by putting them into my paper bag and collected papers to recycle later.

Wednesday: Was in University the entire day, drank lots of H20 and so I recycled my mineral bottle in the above recycle bins at my campus. Simple yet fulfilling. *feels proud*

Thursday: Bring along my shopping bag to buy stuff. Say NO to plastic bags and bring your own bags! *you can bring a funky or a colourful one* be trendy yet save the world! PS: Sloggi shopping bag works too 😉

Friday: Switch Off and Unplug all electrical items when not in use to save electricity. Lets be considerate as electricity still runs even if you off your electrical devices.

Saturday: When I was in Student Council teambuilding camp, my room has a bath tube but I opt to take a shower instead. Why? because by filling up a bathtub it wastes a lot of water. We have to save water!

Sunday: Plant some flowers or trees in ur garden, make the place greener while in return u get more oxygen! Time for some Gardening!

Simple things like these can go a long way to save the world so show some love to our world!
