The other night we stayed in Sabah Hotel which is a distance away from the town and the 2nd night we get to stay in the heart of the town! Happening as I had been expecting the waterfront to be but it’s totally different case in Sandakan. But nevertheless, it’s a small town and everything is just chilling compared to Kota Kinabalu where things in the waterfront are so happening and bustling.
Swiss Inn promise a nice view looking at the waterfront and some mamaks but that depends which room you took some rooms are blocked by another building. The rooms are slightly smaller but very morden! Love the simple chic look especially their bathroom which has only One glass door meaning if your in the shower you closed the door and when you come out you open the door out and it closes the whole bathroom instead of the shower area. Thats what I call morden and space saving! Very Interesting! Towels, toiletries (Except toothbrush) are all provided with iron and ironing board in the room as well. Great if your on a business trip and needs to do some ironing!
The room is just 1 word MORDEN. Including a television on the wall to save space.
However one tip, I’ve tried walking out at night around 11.30pm and it’s not advisable to walk out late night alone or even in small groups as they are alot of guys especially malays or indos (Not racist) just beware as there’s only mamak located outside the hotel in the waterfront and every shop are closed! Not even a convenient stall so best to chill at your own room and watch TV.
Next Tip, Wake up early 7am or so get to the Sandakan Central Market it’s within walking distance 1 block of building away around 5 minutes you can get your breakfast of the famous Keow Teow fried pork there and spring noodles which sold out by 8.30am! So better sleep early 😉
