Coffee Stain offers a variety of beans, you’ll be amazed by the selection. If your a coffee lover you’ll enjoy their Single Origin of the day with different brewing methods. So after brunch at The Red Bean Bag, together with my friend on a coffee hunt. Coincidently, TimeOut KL (June edition) came out a list of top picks cafes and coffee places in the city, which most of them I’ve tried out recently. Coffee Stain by Joseph was also on the list.
Upon entering the shop, you’ll notice various beans on displayed and a guide on the wall on the various type of coffee drink. I prefer Cafe Latte, Piccolo Latte and Mocha, while occasionally have Cappuccino.
Coffee Stain is also known for it’s Panama Geisha, which is an auction favorite which cost around RM 60 per cup. As TimeOut KL, June edition states it’s light body, honey and citrus flavour with jasmin-like aroma. However, you may also try out their Cup Of Excellence (COE), whereby various cafe offers different COE as it’s a mixture of beans awarded to the particular cafe during a competition.
I had the Piccolo Latte, RM 7 while my friend had Cafe Latte, RM 8.5.
Recently, I fell in love for Piccolo after knowing it contains less milk hence it is more concentrated as compared to Cafe Latte.
Coffee Stain is a must visit if your a coffee lover, and have a certain preference on how you take your coffee. I will be back for their Single Origin of the day, perhaps trying out aeropress.

Hi Shannon,

Actually, COE “is an annual competition held in several countries to identify the highest quality coffees produced.” That’s the short story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cup_of_Excellence
Continue blogging about cafes tho’
Prefer piccolo lattes myself. Less milk and all.

Hi Jo,
yes you got that right. Every year, various barista or cafe would compete in the rounds to create their own blend (a mixture of beans) hence, the best ones would normally win & be able to carry their trademark COE. This was actually explained to me by my barista friend and through conversation of coffee I’ve learnt about. I saw on the table of Coffee Stain offers COE beans, and for other cafes like Coffea Coffee, you can try out their COE as well.
Hope my explanation helps, that was why I mentioned other cafe offers different COE. It’s similar to house blend. However, for COE, it’s only awarded to 1 cafe who won it. As other cafes are not entitled to carry it. COE is basically a mixture of beans, creating a new blend which the taste of coffee is unique in it’s own way.
Thanks for bringing this up too. 🙂
