I recall 12 significant memories that occurred in 2012. Initially, I wanted to do this recap post at the end of the year but then I couldn’t think of what to blog. There are many significant things that happened in 2012 but I would just handpick this 12 things that consists the good and bad of my year in 2012 (in no particular order).
1. Survived a one year LDR
Yeap, going through Long Distance Relationship is certainly something I didn’t expect I could, but the daily skype, air mail exchange, lovely surprises and BBMs + whatsapp. Distance doesn’t keep two person apart, cause our heart remains together still. We’ve gone through that now.
It’s not easy but it’s a joy to have a LDR with someone so lovely! Despite the arguments over skype – yes we do argue and fight but we usually talk it out after some time and making a rule that despite we are arguing or in a coldwar of not talking to each other it gotta end within 24hrs. Although, both of us would not know what will happen in the future but for now, living in the present and cherish one another.

2. Kicked out from University due to failing a Subject
I’m not a smart study type of student. Especially when it’s about numbers. Failing Management Accounting for the 2nd time it’s the end and so couldn’t continue on my degree. Yeap, got an official letter I got kicked out of the program. Sad and felt lost, you know nowadays everyone has a degree it’s like so common despite if they know how to work smart when they are on a job is a different thing. My internship to be honest with groupon, has got nothing to do with what I study in university. My knowledge mainly came from self taught over google about social media and my experience in blogging. See, I was thinking should I just skip this step and start working? But mummy insisted I get a degree so after countless trips back to Taylors to discuss and getting enrolled to UniSa instead of the Taylor’s homegrown program, I’ve gotten my entry plus I some credit points.Went through the first semester like hell because there was two calculations paper (accounting and market analysis) – hard-work paid off. I did 3 past year papers before the final exam which normally I don’t do and really do all the tutorials and redo them 3-4 times for each questions (imagine there’s like 13 topics?) yeap, I passed and was even on a very safe zone. Looking forward to my 2nd semester coming up in March 2013. Though I’m delayed for a year to graduate but entering Unisa Marketing, I never regretted, psst, in fact it’s a much better degree with experience lecturers compared to my previous degree. 😉 Seems like a good choice after all I’m looking at the bright side and I won’t give up. It’s not easy but I wear my graduation hat.
3. Chop off my hair and went Short
Wanted a new look and so I got myself a bob cut. Hair will grow and it’s so much easier to manage my hair especially since I wash my hair daily. Will you go short too?
4. Got my Open Water Diving License
I wanted to dive and I did it. Gotten my PADI Open Water diving licence in Perhentian. Passed with flying colours lol. It’s amazing swimming with fishes and be amaze at the beautiful corals, the underwater world is so colourful.
5. Learnt How to Swim
Can you imagine I went diving without knowing how to swim? yeap, after my diving trip, Christopher had a mini campaign that was on his blog to learn how to swim with Swimin12.com. I signed up being curious and was selected to be part of the program. From them, I got to learn how to swim using some smart techniques and it was fun.
6. Learning how to Surf at RipCurl Pro
I sort of like water sports for some reason. During the recent Rip Curl Pro Terengganu 6-Star Asian Surfing Competition, I was one of the bloggers selected to join the event. We had a mini surf clinic from Rip Curl School of Surf Bali to teach us some basic techniques to surf and bringing us to try it our self with the waves. It was fun and I’m keen to explore surfing further after this!
7. Became a full time blogger for a year
You know blogging from just keeping some memories on a blog, became sharing my moments with all of you (or anyone who’s interested in my lifestyle) to doing some simple DIY, tutorials, reviews and event coverage. So after blogging for about 5 years, the past 2 years I’ve been more focused on blogging to share instead of just keeping a journal. 2012 was a year where during my holidays, I had the time and decided I wanted to do blogging Full Time, just to try it out. It’s not easy to be honest, it’s not just blogging as you like, because there’s so much to read, so much to think and draft out a post before it gets published. Well there’s fun in it too.
While people goes to work or college, my daily routine would be wake up, chill with my coffee, check out the social world on facebook, twitter, instagram and then plan what to wear and head out for events. In between I’ll be emailing alot, rsvp-ing to events. When I’m done with event I’ll come back home and look through my goodie bags and see if there’s any new beauty products for me to play and such. Or sometimes, I’ll have to attend two events on the same day, I’ll be malls hopping from pavilion to 1 Utama and back to KLCC. It’s been a great experience being a lifestyle blogger. Of course this is just a summary, there’s lots more. Well, some may ask, do you earn as a blogger? To be honest, not really. But then again, blogging is just a passion. So yah, if your in it for the money, perhaps you should have an action plan on how to monetize your blog yet keep your readers entertained?
8. Honeymoon Trip with Fluffy to Universal Studios in Singapore
It’s been a year with Fluffy, there’s been lots of lovely moments and filled with sweetness and some bitterness in our journey together. We planned a getaway to Singapore and stayed at this wonderful unique boutique hotel and went Universal Studios. We never plan our journey that much, it’s more of a random walk around in Singapore. But things went superb well and it’s an amazing trip still. The most memorable moment would be dining in this cozy Chinese restaurant having herbal duck. Good food and good company, looking at fluffy stomach being filled makes me melts. Perhaps I should feed him more good food. Just so much love seeing the person you love being happy, you just automatically rejoice!
9. Ran my first 21.1KM Marathon
After the Borneo International Marathon – I flew to Sabah purposely for a 10KM marathon; but it’s an experience. From then on I started looking forward to other marathons and aiming for my very first 21.1KM. I’ve injured my leg twice in the past few years, so running marathon to me had been an on and off interest since high school as I needed time to heel before I start running again. It all started from 3KM then 5KM and 10KM and then I took a leap and did 21.1KM. I completed but wasn’t qualified within the time limit of 3 hours. It still felt good and I really need a new pair of shoes as this pair of Adidas hurts badly even when I ran the Borneo marathon, my toes were bleeding. So 2013, I’m gonna aim for a new pair of running shoes.
10. Participated in 10 Hours Twilight Movie Marathon with TGV
Next marathon doesn’t require any leg movement, I took part in the 10 Hours Movie Marathon watching all Twilight movies in 1 night, invited by TGV Cinemas. It’s crazy, I though I would had fell asleep or got fed-up and left. But I didn’t, plus I was wide awake. Anyways, I wanted an experience watching a movie marathon, I’ve heard some people took part and it’s an experience. Anyways it’s money can’t buy tickets! 🙂
11. Lovely Friends
Last year, with the ups and downs in life, I’m glad to have friends who unconsciously being there for me. Sometimes I’m down, but they may not know and while random chats over the phone just gave me an energy boost and bounce back from being down. These two lovely ladies (Jess and Amelia) had then became my BFFs and we shared so much of random food and beauty products over whatsapp group. There were also time when I remember, I didn’t think I’ll make it and tears just kept flowing as I was so scared – Fluffy was there. Despite having other better things to do or so, he immediately came and try to keep me under control – not by cheering me up but just being there when I needed someone. On the business side, I have a few close friends where we would meet a 3 months once or chat over skype to just talk about ideas, business plans, creativity, customers needs, marketing, awesome customer experiences and so on which kept me motivated to share similar idea on entrepreneurship Thank you guys and my ladies!
12. Revamp my little Princess Room
I constantly call my home, Lito Palace then I realized, my room doesn’t have that “princess feel” so the idea of revamping came into the picture. I did lot’s of research on Tumblr especially on the decor and room design. Then I went and hunt down some key items I wanted to compliment my room (not an easy task) but thanks to Ikea and Daiso, my room is almost complete. I’m hunting for my 2nd quilt sheet now – thinking something flora.
That’s the 12 things in my 2012. Thought hard and wide on some of these moments. Never regretted ever single event that happened – even the bad stuff. I’ve overcome my challenges in 2012 and certainly I’m more matured now to plan for my future and career *since I’m 1 year delayed in graduating!* Time is very important to me. 🙂
